ALASKA INSIDE PASSAGE
An alternative means of travel to CRUISE SHIPPING it up or down the INSIDE PASSAGE, combined with travel in the CANADIAN ROCKIES
Using Vancouver as a starting point, we used the GREYHOUND bus to take us to the Alaska Ferry Terminal at BELLINGHAM in Washington. Here we began our 'ALASKA FERRY ADVENTURES'
This finished at JUNEAU. We then caught the Alaska ferry MATANUSKA back to Canada at PRINCE RUPERT BC. This is the only Canadian port of call in the Alaska ferry system.

We decided to go on a fast ferry trip back to Haines as we had not seen the town on the way past on the Columbia. The fast ferry Fairweather Express takes 45 minutes for the journey

Haines has a cruise ship wharf - but the town caters mainly for wildlife/adventure excursions. Downtown is pretty much unchanged
Historic Fort Seward was established way back by the Seppos to stop the Canucks getting a northern seaport for British Columbia - I think?
Most of the old buildings are used for tourist accommodation.
There was a small cruise ship in Haines, and the ferries were heavily booked. We had to catch the Orca Song back to Skagway
