LOSS OF STEAM DRIFTER - GUIDING STAR BF 304.
After hauling her nets about midnight on Monday, the drifter Guiding Star BF 304, of Cullen went on the rocks at Sheshader Bay, Stornoway.
It was very dark at the time. She commenced making water so rapidly that the crew had only time to secure their clothes & leave her.
They were hospitably accommodated overnight by some of the local fishermen.
The vessel was on her beam ends, almost submerged & in a dangerous position. Should the weather remain fine, there is a possibility that she may be saved. (salvaged) The crew got their fishing gear out of her on Tuesday.

THE WRECKED DRIFTER
The Steam Drifter Guiding Star BF 304 which ran on the rocks at Sheshader Bay, Stornoway on Monday of last week has become a wreck.
The salvage steamer arrived on the scene on Friday, but it was impossible to go near the drifter on account of the strong NW gale prevailing.
When the wind backed into the SE on Saturday, the vessel lay exposed to the storm & she went to pieces. The salvage boat has gone South again.
